Boston Spaceship Distressed Logo Men's T-shirt, Charcoal Grey

$ 19.95

Short sleeve charcoal grey t-shirt printed with the artwork from rock band Boston's first album, considered among the greatest album covers of all time. Released in 1976, it was a huge success, selling over 17 million copies, ranked as the best-selling debut album in U.S. history, a record which still stands. Guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer Tom Scholz formed the band in Boston, Massachusetts. During the 70s and 80s, record album covers were integral to the success of a project; music fans collected certain albums because of their highly regarded covers. Boston's inaugural album was destined to become one of the most recognizable images of the 70's.

The illustration by artist Huyssen shows the Earth exploding in a fiery ball, while a fleet of guitar-shaped spaceships escape into space. The psychedelic 'Boston' logo designed by Gerard Huerta is on the lead ship. The sci-fi element became a mainstay of future album designs, suggesting the ability of rock music to transport listeners to a fantasy world. Boston revived the 1970's mainstream rock radio's popularity, against a rising tide of disco-dominated airwaves. The continued popularity of their songs has made them staples of classic rock radio playlists. The hits "Don't Look Back", "Long Time" (now available on XBox, and Playstation's 'Rock Band'), "More Than A Feeling" (featured on PS2's Guitar Hero), and "Peace Of Mind", a track on Guitar Hero 3's 'Legends Of Rock', are reaching new fans through guitar-driven video games.
